Booking an Appointment
When you phone the surgery you will initially speak to a member of our reception team, who will place your call with the most suitable medical professional. Please be prepared to give a brief description of the reason for your call, so we can ensure that patients who require attention quickly are dealt with in the best way. All members of staff will treat your information with complete confidentially.
To book an appointment, please phone the surgery at 8am. We are introducing a selection of telephone assessment appointments that can be booked on-line. Please speak to a receptionist if you wish to register for on-line access. A member of the team will phone you back as soon as possible, so please keep your phone line free. Through the course of the day they may have to deal with medical emergencies, so please be patient if your call back takes a little longer. When they phone you, the clinician will assess your needs and in partnership with you, decide on the best course of action. This might include one, or a combination of, the following:
- The clinician issuing a prescription for you to collect or have delivered
- A face-to-face appointment with a doctor, paramedic or ANP
- Having some blood tests carried out
- A home visit by a member of our practice team
Booking appointments online
Some GP appointments become available for booking at 7pm Sunday to Thursday. You can book these by using patient access.
Online consultations using AccuRx
Patients of the surgery who have access to a smart phone, computer or tablet will soon be able to submit a clinical or medical administrative query via an online facility called ‘AccuRx'.
These types of online consultations will be suitable for patients requiring non urgent medical advice from a GP or other clinical staff member. The service could also be used for things such as test/ scan results and updating health data.
The aim is to have responded to your query within two working days.
We hope patients will find this service offering useful.
Chaperone for intimate examinations
If you are attending the surgery for a face to face appointment, you are able to request a chaperone for the consultation or procedure. If a suitable chaperone is not available, you may be asked to rebook your appointment for a time when one is. It is possible that if you require an intimate examination, the clinician may request that an additional member of staff (trained in chaperoning duties) from the surgery be present to act as a chaperone. This is to protect both patients and staff. A family member or friend is not permitted to act as a chaperone, however, they may be present during the procedure/examination if the patient is content with this decision.
