If you are attending the surgery for a face to face appointment, you are able to request a chaperone for the consultation or procedure.
If a suitable chaperone is not available, you may be asked to rebook your appointment for a time when one is.
It is possible that if you require an intimate examination, the clinician may request that an additional member of staff (trained in chaperoning duties) from the surgery be present to act as a chaperone. This is to protect both patients and staff.
A family member or friend is not permitted to act as a chaperone, however, they may be present during the procedure/examination if the patient is content with this decision.
